Newborn Tips and Tricks!

Congratulations! You're expecting a little bundle of joy soon. This is such an exciting time, but it can also be a bit overwhelming, especially when it comes to preparing for your new arrival. Here are some tips on how to survive the first few weeks with your newborn.

Newborn Tips

Rest up beforehand:

  • Try to get as much rest as possible before your baby arrives.

  • Do something relaxing: try booking a massage or treat yourself to a manicure

Plan ahead:

  • Book on line food shopping and plan simple and easy to cook food.

  • Make sure you have everything you need before baby arrives.

Take care of yourself:

  • Eat well to ensure you have the energy to care for your baby.

  • Try to get enough rest when possible.

  • Take time for yourself whenever you can, even if it's just a quick shower or nap.

Stock up on essentials:

Make sure you have plenty of nappies, wipes, and other baby essentials on hand. You don't want to run out of these things in the middle of the night. Keep these things to hand:

  • Nappies

  • Nappy cream

  • Baby wipes

  • Baby grows

  • Sleep suits

  • Burp cloths

  • Nipple cream if using

Embrace the chaos:

  • Accept that things will be chaotic for a while, and try to go with the flow.

  • Remember that it's okay if things don't go exactly as planned.

Prioritize what's important:

  • When you're feeling overwhelmed, focus on the most important tasks, such as feeding and changing your baby. Other things, like cleaning and laundry, can wait.

Newborn Tips

Accept help from others:

  • Take turns with your partner or family member: If you have a partner family member with you, take turns caring for the baby. This will give each of you a chance to rest and take care of yourself.

  • If a parent of friend offers help, accept it! An extra load of laundry, dishwasher filled or the floor hoovered will make a huge difference.

  • If you need it, ask for help! It can be tough to ask for help, but people want to help each other and it can make all the difference.

Join a support group:

  • Consider joining a support group for new parents. You can connect with other parents who are going through the same experiences and share tips and advice.

  • Having a support system can help you feel less isolated and more supported.

Newborn Tips

Don't forget self-care:

  • Take care of yourself mentally and physically.

  • Try to find time for activities you enjoy, like reading, exercising, or taking a relaxing bath.

Be kind to yourself

  • Remember that no one is perfect, and that it's okay to make mistakes.

  • Give yourself grace and don't be too hard on yourself.

  • Take it one day at a time: Finally, remember to take things one day at a time. The first few weeks with a newborn can be tough, but they'll also be some of the most magical and rewarding moments of your life. Enjoy the journey!

  • Don't compare yourself to others: Remember that every baby is different, and every parent's experience is unique. Don't compare yourself to others, and try not to feel guilty if things don't go as planned.

Remember, those first few weeks with your newborn will be a challenging but rewarding time. With a little bit of help and self-care, you'll get through it and be rewarded with plenty of snuggles and sweet moments with your new bundle of joy.
