About Bluebell & Lace
The first thing you should know about me is that I absolutely adore my job! I am highly trained in posing newborn babies safely and pride myself on working to the highest standards - my tiny clients are just too precious for anything less.
I have worked with babies and children for 18 years and have been a photographer for many of those years.
Creating beautiful photographs for my clients is my favourite thing to do and my newborn sessions in particular hold a special place in my heart. Nothing is more fulfilling than capturing that fleeting time and seeing my clients well up with joy at their viewing session.
We have a beautiful purpose built studio at our home in North Ferriby which is perfectly positioned for access from M62/ A63 from Hull and East and North Yorkshire. It is also is easily accessible from the A15 Humber Bridge for clients in North Lincolnshire.
Why Book a Newborn Photography Session
Having 4 children of my own, I absolutely remember the emotions of those first few weeks. The exhaustion and the elation cannot be equalled, but those magical, wonderful times don't last forever. Those tiny fingers and toes grow so fast and the fleeting newborn stage can never be repeated. This is why it is so important to capture those moments.... as proof that they really were that little!
Many of my clients have actually said that their Newborn Photography session was the first time they had relaxed and taken some time for a coffee and a magazine since their baby was born. Knowing their baby was safe and in their eyesight but without chores to do, they could unwind and enjoy their session.
Pre Session Consultation
I love to take the time to speak to my clients about what they want from their session.
I will speak to you at least once before your session to discuss the colour choices for your and where you want to display your images.
Even if we have spoken before your baby is born, I will speak to you when booking your session date. I always ask my clients a list of questions about their baby’s birth. I'm not being nosy, I promise! I’m checking for anything that may affect how I pose your baby, or may affect you while in the studio. Birth is an epic thing to experience and you and your baby deserve the best care and support.
About your session
Baby - Led
As a mum I completely understand how emotional and tiring those first few weeks with a newborn are. My newborn sessions are relaxed and not hurried. We go at your baby’s pace, I let your baby lead the session. If they are not happy or settling into a pose I change it and move on. I have many beautiful poses in my workflow so I can always get a stunning gallery of photographs for you. There is also plenty of time for changes, feeds and extra cuddles if baby or mum needs.
My studio in North Ferriby is calm and comfortable. You can settle down with a coffee and a biscuit on my sofa and relax and enjoy your session. You don’t need to worry that your baby won’t settle. I am experienced and have developed lots of tricks and techniques to settle my tiny clients. I only ever book one newborn in a day so that I can devote my time and attention to you and your baby, there is no pressure on anyone.
When to Book
I book a limited number of sessions each month as my tiny clients often like to surprise their parents with their arrival! When you book I simply pencil you in for around your due date and when your baby arrives we secure your session date. This ensures that no matter when your baby decides to enter the world, I will be able to arrange your session for when you are both ready to come. This is usually within the first two weeks but don’t panic if you need a little longer to recover.

Although most sessions are booked months before the baby's due date, if your baby has already arrived there is still a possibility that I can squeeze you in for a session so please do get in touch.
