Hi there! I’m Leonie – the face behind Bluebell and Lace Photography. As a mum of four and someone who’s worked with babies and young children for over 20 years, I know just how precious – and fleeting – those first few weeks with your newborn are. Capturing that tiny newness is one of my greatest joys, and something I feel truly honoured to do for families across Beverley and the East Yorkshire area.
Choosing the right Beverley baby photographer is such an important decision. You’re trusting someone not only to create beautiful images but also to care for your brand-new baby with gentleness and expertise. So how do you know who’s the right fit? Here are the top 10 questions I always recommend asking before you book your newborn session.

Why Ask Questions Before Booking Your Beverley Baby Photographer?
It’s completely normal to feel a little unsure about what to expect from a newborn photoshoot – especially when you’re navigating the whirlwind of early parenthood. Asking the right questions beforehand helps to ease your mind, ensure a safe and relaxing experience, and make sure the final images are everything you’re dreaming of (and more).
As a Beverley baby photographer, I believe your comfort and confidence are just as important as your baby’s. With over two decades of experience working with little ones, I bring a calm, reassuring presence to every session – so you can relax and enjoy the moment.
Thanks to my lovely clients for these behind the scenes shots!

Top 10 Questions to Ask Your Newborn Photographer
1. How much experience do you have with newborns?
This is such an important one! Newborn photography requires more than just a camera – it needs patience, understanding, and a genuine love for working with tiny humans. With four children of my own and over 20 years working with babies and toddlers, I bring that depth of experience into every shoot at Bluebell and Lace Photography.
2. Are you trained in newborn safety?
Your baby’s safety is my absolute top priority. Safe posing, correct support, and a warm, calm environment are essential. I’ve undergone specialist training to ensure every session is safe, gentle, and baby-led. As a professional Beverley baby photographer, I never take risks when it comes to your little one.

3. What style of photography do you offer?
Every photographer has a unique style, and it’s important to find one that speaks to your heart. I offer soft, timeless, natural-style newborn photography with a gentle, rustic touch. Think neutral tones, delicate textures, and emotive images that celebrate the beauty of your new baby. You can see more of my signature style in the portfolio on my website.
4. When should I book my newborn session?
The ideal time to photograph your newborn is while you are still pregnant. I will book you in my diary for your due date and when little one arrives, we will arrange a date for your session. I usually suggest this takes place between 7–14 days old, when babies are still very sleepy and curly. I always recommend booking during your second or early third trimester to guarantee a spot. Of course, babies don’t always arrive on schedule – so I pencil in your due date and adjust as needed.
5. What happens if my baby is unsettled on the day?
Don’t worry – I’ve seen it all! Crying, feeding, wriggling – it’s all completely normal. I allow plenty of time for feeds, cuddles, and changes, and I’ll never rush you or your baby. My sessions are relaxed, baby-led, and full of patience.

6. Can I see a portfolio of your work?
Absolutely – and you should always ask this of any Beverley baby photographer you’re considering. It’s important to see consistency in style, lighting, and posing. You can view my recent sessions here, or follow along on Instagram and Facebook for the latest updates.
7. What should we bring to the session?
I provide everything you’ll need for your baby – wraps, props, outfits, and blankets. Just bring the essentials: nappies, milk (if bottle feeding), a dummy if your baby uses one, and anything that helps them feel settled. And of course, bring yourselves – I love capturing family and sibling shots too!
8. Do you include family or sibling shots?
Yes – and they’re often some of the most treasured images. Whether it’s a sleepy cuddle with mum and dad or a cheeky kiss from a big brother or sister, I gently guide you into relaxed, natural poses that showcase your family’s love and connection.

9. How long does a newborn session take?
A typical newborn session lasts 2–3 hours, but it’s always led by your baby’s needs. I allow time for feeds, nappy changes, and soothing – there’s no rush. My Beverley studio is warm, quiet, and designed to make you feel at home.
10. What packages and products do you offer?
I offer a range of carefully curated packages that include digital images and fine art prints, and also offer beautiful framed wall art, canvases and stunning keepsake albums. My full welcome guide, which you’ll receive upon enquiry, includes all the details and prices so you can choose the option that best suits your family. I will never hide my pricing. My packages are on every page of my website and on any brochures I will send you too.
